In this guide, we have listed the strategies we have tried to overcome the challenges in Nubby’s Number Factory.
Challenge Strategy Guide
Welcome to the ultimate Nubby’s Number Factory Challenge Guide! Below is a detailed strategy breakdown for each challenge. Whether you’re stuck or seeking optimization tips, this guide will help you conquer every obstacle.
The Easy Challenges (1-4)
These are relatively simple and work like the base game with minor tweaks.
1. Amnesiac
- All items are mystery boxes, limiting build synergy.
- Tip: Use the crane game often — mystery boxes can be perks!
- Keep trying until you luck into a powerful item combo.
2. Stay There!
- You can only reroll the pegs once per run.
- Tip: Surprisingly easier than Amnesiac. Reroll early or whenever you want.
- Focus on steady, safe plays.
3. Short on Change
- Cheaper shops but limited purchases (mostly one item per shop).
- Avoid perks like Void or The Meaty Perk unless your build is solid.
- Tip: Stick to consistent 1-2x restock builds over high-risk strategies.
4. Plain Jane
- Reduced item pool increases duplicate potential.
- Tip: Aim to stack upgraded versions of the same item.
- Buy freely — this is arguably the easiest challenge.
Mid-Level Challenge (5)
5. Expiration Date
Items explode after a few rounds.
Strategy: Build a revolving-door economy:
- Prioritize Cheese House, Finger Puppet, Squirmy, or Sea Cucumber.
- Use Gold Rush to sacrifice Nubbies for coins if possible.
- Open Cafe Nubby and stock up on Hotdog-Dogs and Strawberries.
Important: Upgrading an item refreshes its duration. Focus on commons and avoid rares unless they’re exceptional.
Tip: Skip Black Markets; focus on shops and Cafe upgrades.
Death Punishes Hard (6-7)
6. One-Shot McGee
- You only get five lives.
- Tip: Avoid risky plays and focus on consistent builds.
- Play as if racing a timer — survival is key.
7. Nubblocke
- Death destroys your current run.
- Tip: Fill your inventory (6-7 items) to avoid a cascade failure.
- Key Perks: Mystery Box (random slot 1 item) helps but is risky.
- Avoid low-item builds and embrace survival strategies.
Time-Based Challenge (8)
8. Time’s Up!
Unique mechanic: Nubby has 1.5 seconds to live.
Strategy: Build to kill Nubby instantly:
- Focus on perks like Void, Shotgun Perk, or Pregnancy Test.
- Stack “On first peg popped” or “When Nubby dies” perks.
Tip: Avoid “X pegs popped” or “bounces” triggers — they’re unreliable here.
Winning Build Example: Yeti + Pregnancy Test + Void Perks + Jake the Snake.
The Final Difficult Challenges (9-10)
9. Pol’s Bane
Perks are disabled.
Strategy: Build around doubles or halves:
- Dancing Dino, Mannequin Head, Asbestos, Kazoo.
- Use Cafe Nubby to upgrade Mannequin Head.
Tip: You can go surprisingly far without perks — lean into item synergy.
10. Pheebie-Mode
One of the hardest challenges — RNG-heavy.
Recommended Build: Yeti + Void/Chaos perks + Kebabs from Cafe Nubby.
Strategy Tips:
- Void Perks scale well but are hard to stack.
- Chaos Perk targets one item — great if managed well.
- Avoid: Black Market (scam), focus cash on crane games for perks.
Solid Items: Cheese House, Squirmy, Pants (classic but RNG-dependent).
Note: Perk stacking is the winning path — reroll until lucky.
Pro Tips
- Crane Game = Perks: Always worth the gamble.
- Inventory Management: Keep your slots full where possible, especially in death-punishing runs.
- Cafe Nubby: A key location to refresh or upgrade.
- Avoid the Black Market: Rarely worth the risk.
- Perk Priorities: Void and Chaos Perks carry hard in most difficult challenges.
